Floral Grounds Policy

Place all flowers according to the cemetery's floral policy: The placement of floral items on graves other than on the day of internment is subject to the following conditions.

  1. Fresh cut flowers may be placed on graves at any time.
  2. Flowers will be removed from graves and disposed of by cemetery personnel when they become withered, faded or otherwise unsightly.
  3. Permanent plantings, statues, vigil lights, breakable objects of any kind and similar commemorative items are not permitted on graves any time. These and other hazardous objects will be removed by cemetery personnel whenever found on a grave.
  4. Artificial flowers and potted plants will be permitted on graves during the period of October 10 through April 15. In areas where the growing season extends generally the year round, artificial flowers and potted plants will be permitted on graves 10 days before through 10 days after Easter Sunday and Memorial Day.
  5. During the Christmas Season, Christmas wreaths, grave floral blankets and other such floral arrangements will be permitted commencing December 1 and allowed to remain on the grave through January 20 of each year. Grave floral blankets may not be larger in size than 2 feet by 3 feet.
  6. Floral items and other types of decorations will not be secured to the headstones or markers. They may be secured to spikes or rods driven into the ground.
  7. In order to remain responsive to the public, artificial flowers and other commemorative or religious items that are placed on graves in violation will be collected by cemetery personnel and placed in an inconspicuous holding area. Such items will be held for a period of 1 month prior to disposal. Within that month period, assistance will be given to families for retrieval of the tributes, if requested.
  8. Florists will not be permitted to deliver flowers to a grave and leave them thereon without removing and taking away all boxes, wrapping paper or other packaging materials.
  9. Floral regulations will be conspicuously posted on signs throughout the cemetery.
  10. Request for exceptions to the above floral regulations will be submitted to the Cemetery Director together with justification.
